Contemplative Practice

Embodying Zen Meditation Group

Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30am -8:45am in the Studio

This group is for meditators of all experience levels who are interested in exploring the confluence of Waking Up and Growing Up. It is designed for those of us who would like to start or rekindle a daily meditation commitment while refining our understanding of what it means to be a healthy and well integrated individual in body, mind and spirit. There will be periods of sitting in silence, movement practice and short instructions or teachings.

In this group, we will differentiate and integrate:

  • The paths of Eastern Spirituality and Western Psychology and why understanding this is so crucial
  • The experiences of “thinking” your body and “feeling” it
  • Observing mind (mindfulness) and Pure Awareness (Zen Mind)
  • The sacredness of the world wisdom traditions and the newest modalities and neuroscience

We maintain deep respect and gratitude for the 2500 years of the unbroken wisdom lineage of Buddhism and now recognize that what it means to be Awake must include leaving no stone unturned within the astounding evolutionary developments that our psychologies have undergone.

The group is drop-in and meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 7:30-8:45am at The Integral Center, 2805 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304. Donations are gratefully appreciated.

The facilitator: Chad Bennett, MA LPC has been practicing meditation since 2003 when he spent several years in Thailand and India doing extended periods of vipassana retreat. Just months after an awakening experience, he was often disabled by the emergence of traumatic symptoms and he quickly discovered that the eastern traditions were ill equipped to handle the integration of our complex western psychologies. He returned to the US and pursued a master’s degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology and has become passionate about differentiating and integrating these two paths of Waking Up and Growing Up. He is currently in private practice and studies under Doshin Nelson at in Denver. You can contact Chad through his website at
